Slovak language

After one month in Slovakia but also two other months to study the Slovak language, we are able to speak a little Slovak. Obviously, we are not experts in only three months and some hours of practice and study but we know how to introduce ourselves and say that we do not understand the Slovak language which could be very useful in some situations!

Useful words in Slovak language

The Slovak language is very interesting and does not look like the Russian language. It does not have a Slav sound, in fact, in my opinion it has some similarities with the English and Spanish languages.

Let us write a little Slovak to understand better my impressions : “Voláme sa Manon, som študentka. Som doma vo Francúzcu.”

The Slovak language could be easy sometimes but very complicated other time. For example, they use some letters as : č which sounds like “tch”, š which is pronounced as “ch” or these one Ď and ď which are the same letter, the first one is in capital and the second in lowercase; they sound like “di”. The pronunciation is sometimes difficult because we are not used to these types of sonorities.

Slovak phrases

However, discovering this language was exciting and we made significant progress in the speaking area.
