The automobile sector is a big branch of economy of Žilina. Including KIA MOTORS company who is located between The Vah river and the railway. It is built in 2004 and it is the only KIA company in Europe.
Kia motors is a Korean make of car. In Žilina, there are two car models and five type of engine produced. Ceed cars with the original Ceed, the Ceed Sportswagon, the ProCeed and the XCeed, and there is also the Sportage. The production plant is expanding on 223 hectares. It is a very big plant, we can see it from the road along the Vah upstream of the dam. The Žilina site builds Kia and Hyundai cars between its implantation and 2011, and since 2011 it builds only Kia cars. To give you an idea, per minute one car is produced. Concerning the average wage is approximately at 1000€, against an average minimum wage of €323 in Slovakia.
We are also seeing some Kia bike stations. But we don’t know if they are in operation, or if people use them all the time. To understand better, look the following pictures 😉
