Dam of Žilina and the Vah river

Thanks to the Covid-19 we have a lot of time to stroll in Žilina and its surroundings. Last Friday, a sunny day, we decided to ramble and picnic on the bank of the Vah river. We left the hotel at midday and went until the town’s dam at around 4 kilometres by foot. Few minutes after we arrived at the dam, we stopped and seated on a bench. We had lunch in front of this beautiful view, I let you enjoy the picture!

View from the bench

With a filled belly, we continued our walk and saw wonderful landscapes, cabins, trees, birds… Even if we bumped into many of Slovaks who biked, did rollerblades or ran, the atmosphere was so peaceful and calming ! There was no noise, just the song of the birds and the wind in the trees. It was impressing that the atmosphere could be so quiet just next to a city.

Cabins next to the river

Walking along the river was necessary to move away from the hotel and the stress of the situation. Moreover, we saw beautiful birds, ducks and we met a cat 😊. We finished our stroll with starry-eyed and sore feet after more than 12 kilometres of walk !
