In the beginning of September, I checked that I had a passport and that my identity card would be still valid for this Erasmus semester. As the university of Žilina is a new partner of our school, I’ve no idea how the life is there and where I can sleep during the semester. Fortunately, the university correspondent has sent a document with many information. Reading it helped me to learn more about the city, the university, the customs and culture.
Before flying and taking the train until Žilina, I’m going to search more Slovaks’ customs and habits in order to don’t be confused or lost in this foreign country… But first of all, I’m going to learn some useful phrases in Slovak. Then, I will catch up on the interesting sites and cities in Slovakia but also in the countries next door. Additionally, I’m going to go to the doctor to have some drugs in case of need and a medical certificate if it’s necessary to do sport.
Finally, I’m going to shop because the weather in Slovakia is colder than in France and pack my suitcase. I think with this preparation I will be prepared at least to face the culture shock and the first days in Žilina.
